In the Year 1861, Lahiri Mahasaya was working as an accountant in Govt. Railway Engineering Dept. He was 33 years old and married. He was transferred to Ranikhet in the Himalayas, It was a difficult journey of 30 days on horses and buggy (there were no rails or roads). There was no immediate duty to look after in the office, Lahiri Mahasaya being a spritual man set out to look for the saints he had heard rumours about. ஓஷோவின் நகைச்சுவை ஒவ்வொன்றும் ஆழமாக சிரிக்க மற்றும் ஆழ்ந்து உணர்ந்து படிக்க வேண்டியவை மற்றும் ஆழ்ந்த அர்த்தம் கொண்டவை. வாழ்க்கை மிகவும் வேடிக்கையானது. உன்னைச் சுற்றிலும் நடக்கும் வாழ்வின் வேடிக்கையான பக்கத்தைப் பார்க்கக் கற்றுக்கொள். நடக்கும் ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் அதற்கேயான வேடிக்கையான பக்கம் ஒன்று இருக்கிறது. அதைப் பார்க்க உனக்கு கொஞ்சம் நகைச்சுவையுணர்வு வேண்டும், அவ்வளவுதான். என்கிறார் ஓஷோ. இரண்டுபேர் சேர்ந்து ஒரு தொழில் செய்து வந்தார்கள். முதல் நபர் இரவில் ஒரு ஊருக்குள் சென்று “தாரை“ ஜன்னல் மற்றும் கதவுகளின் மேல் பூசிவிட்டு வந்து விடுவான். இரண்டு, மூன்று நாட்களுக்குப்பின் இரண்டாவது நபர் அந்த “தாரை“ சுத்தம் செய்து கொடுப்பவனாக அதே ஊருக்குள் வருவான். கேட்பவர்களுக்கு சுத்தம் செய்து கொடுத்து பணம் பெற்றுக்கொள்வான். அதேசமயம் முதலாமவன் வேறொரு ஊரில் தார் பூசிக்கொண்டிருப்பான். இந்தவிதத்தில் அவர்கள் நன்கு பணம் சம்பாதித்தார்கள். சிறந்த வேலை, முதலீடு இல்லை. ஒருவன் ஐன்னல்களை கெடுத்துக் கொண்டே போகவேண்டியது, மற்றவன் அவைகளை சுத்தம் செய்து தர வேண்டியது. இதைத்தான் காலங்காலமாக உனது பூசாரிகள், உனது ச

முதிய ஜென் குரு ஒருவர் மரணப் படுக்கையில் இருந்தார். ‘‘இன்று மாலைக்குள் இறந்துவிடுவேன்’’ என்று தன் சீடர்களிடம் தெரிவித்துவிட்டார். இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்ட அவர் நண்பர்கள் பலரும், சிஷ்யர்களும் ஆசிரமத்தை வந்தடைந்தனர். மூத்த சீடர் ஒருவர் திடீரென கடைவீதிக்குப் புறப்பட்டார். ‘‘ஏய்... என்ன மடத்தனம் பண்ணுகிறாய்... குரு மரணப்படுக்கையில் கிடக்கும்போது அப்படி என்ன அவசரமாக வாங்க வேண்டியிருக்கு?’’ என்றனர் மற்றவர்கள். மூத்த சீடர், ‘‘குருநாதருக்கு நாவல்பழம் என்றால் அத்தனை பிரியம். அதை வாங்கத்தான் போகிறேன்!’’ என்று சொல்லிவிட்டுக் கிளம்பினார். எல்லோரும் கவலையோடிருந் தனர். குரு கண்களைத் திறப்பதும் யாரையோ தேடுவதும் பின் மூடிக் கொள்வதுமாக இருந்தார். மூத்த சீடர் வந்ததும், ‘‘வந்து விட்டாயா... எங்கே நாவல்பழம்?’’ என்றார். அவர் கையில் நாவல் பழத்தைக் கொடுத்ததும், சற்றும் நடுக்கமின்றி அதை வாங்கிக் கொண்டார். ஒரு சீடர் குருவிடம், ‘‘குருவே... தள்ளாத வயதிலும் உங்கள் கைகளில் நடுக்கமில்லையே?’’ என்றார். குரு சிரித்தபடி, ‘‘என் கைகள் ஒருபோதும் நடுங்கியதில்லை. ஏனென்றால் எப்போதும் எதற்கும் நான் பயந்ததே இல்லை!’’ என

One day the Guru called all the disciples, and said, “Through my practices I reduced almost all my karmas. I have only a few sins left, which I want to finish in this life, so that I become liberated at the time of my death. For removing these sins, I must go through certain suffering. மாவீரன் அர்ச்சுனன் கிருஷ்ணனிடம், ஐயனே, பிதாமகன் பீஷ்மர், தலைவன் தர்மர், பக்திமான் பீமன் இவர்களெல்லாம் இருக்க அவசரபுத்தியும், கோபமும் கொண்ட எனக்கு கீதையை உபதேசிப்பது முறையோ என பணிந்து கேட்க, அதற்கு ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா, "அர்ஜுனா ! நீ என்னோடு நெருங்கிப் பழகுபவன். என் மீது தோழமை கலந்த அன்புடன் இருப்பவன் என்பதால் நான் உனக்கு கீதையைச் சொல்லவில்லை. நீ நினைப்பதுபோல் பிதாமகர் பீஷ்மரை அறங்கள் அனைத்துமுணர்ந்த ஒரு மகாத்மாவாக என்னால் கருதமுடியவில்லை. சாஸ்திரங்கள் உணர்வதால்மட்டும் ஒரு மனிதனுக்கு சிறப்பு வந்துவிடாது; கடைப்பிடித்தால்தான் சிறப்பு" (implementation or execution). கௌரவர்கள் அதர்மம் புரிகிறார்கள் என்பதறிந்தும் பீஷ்மர் அவர்கள் பக்கமே இருக்கிறார். அதேசமயம் பாண்டவர்களை தனியே பார்க்க நேரும்போது தர்மம் வெல்ல ஆசிர்வதிப்பதாகவும் கூறுகிறார். இது இரட்டை வேடம்(double standards). ஒரே சமயத்தில் இரண்டு குதிரைகளில் சவாரி செய்வது சாத்தியமற்றது. To his dismay, he noticed them get served first. He watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily. He even overheard one of them brag about how he knew everyone at that hotel and how things moved fast for him here. He felt he was being mocked. He contemplated leaving. But he had waited so long. Unable to take it anymore, he called the waiter and spoke sadly of how unfair things were. The waiter calmly told him, "Yours is a special order Sir, being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by interns because the top chefs are busy with yours. That's why they came first. Please have some juice as you wait". ஒருவர் வெகுநாட்களாக கொடிய நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு அவதியுற்று வந்தார். ஒரு நாள் அவரைப் பார்க்க, சமய குரு ஒருவர் அவர் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தார். வாடிய உடலோடு, மனமும் சோர்வுற்ற நிலையில் இருந்தார் அந்த நோயுற்றிருந்த நபர். இதைப் பார்த்த சமய குரு, " நாம் அனைவரும் இவருக்காக இறைவனிடம் வேண்டிக் கொள்வோம்" என கூறி மனமுருகி அவருக்காக வேண்டிக் கொண்டார். அங்கிருந்த அவரது நண்பர்களும், உறவினர்களும் அவரோடு இணைந்து கடவுளை வேண்டத் தொடங்கினார்கள். பிறகு அந்த சமய குரு, "இறைவனின் அருளா ல், நிச்சயம் உங்களுக்கு நோய் குணமாகி விடும். இத்தனை பேரும் உங்கள் நோய் குணமாக வேண்டி இருக்கிறார்கள். உங்களுக்கு உடல் நிலை சரியாகி விடும்" எனக் கூறினார். அந்த கூட்டத்தில் நாத்திகன் ஒருவன் இருந்தான். போதகர் சொன்னதைக் கேட்டதும் நக்கலாய் அவன் சிரிக்கத் தொடங்கினான்.  "வெறும் வார்த்தைகள் போய் அவனைக் குணப்படுத்துமா? அல்லது வெறும் சொற்கள் மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்துமா?" என கூறி சிரித்தான். அதற்கு அந்த சமய குரு, "இந்தக் கூட்டத்திலேயே மிகப் பெரிய முட்டாள், மூடன், மூர்க்கன் நீங்கள் தான்" என சொன்னார்.

மகாபாரதத்தில் உடலைப் பிரிந்த கர்ணனின் உயிரானது தன் தந்தை சூரிய தேவனுடன் பரம்பொருள் ஈசனை வணங்கி மகிழ்ந்து சுவர்க்க பேறு பெற்றது. சூரிய தேவனுக்கோ மனதில் மிகப் பெரிய ஐயம் கலந்த வேதனை. எவரிடம் கேட்பது.? எவர் தெளிவாகக் கூறுவார்கள் ? குழப்பத்திலும் கோபத்திலும் சூரியனின் வெம்மை அதிகரித்தது. இதை உணர்ந்த ஈசன், அவர் முன் எழுந்தருளினார். சூரியனே, என்ன தடுமாற்றம் உன் மனதில் ? கேட்டது ஈசன். பரம்பொருளே.. பலவிதமான தான தருமங்கள் செய்து புண்ணியங்களை சேர்த்து வைத்த என் மகன் கர்ணனை போரில் கொன்றது விதி என்று ஏற்றுக் கொண்டேன். ஆனால்,எல்லா புண்ணியங்களையும் கிருஷ்ணருக்கு தானமாகத் தந்தபடியால் அவன் இன்னும் மிகப் பெரிய புண்ணியவான் ஆகிவிடுகிறானே. பிறகு எப்படி அவனுக்கு மரணம் ஏற்பட்டது? இது அநீதி அல்லவா? என கேட்டார் சூரியத் தேவன். இறை சிரித்தது. சூரியனே, நிறைய மனிதர்களுக்குள் ஏற்படும் சலனமே உன்னை இந்தக் கேள்வியை எழுப்ப வைத்ததுள்ளது, சொல்கிறேன் கேள். தானம் என்பது பிறருக்குத் தேவையானவற்றை அவர் கேட்டோ, அடுத்தவர் அவர் நிலை கூறி அறிந்தபின்னோ தருவது. இதுதான் தானம். புண்ணியக் கணக்கில் சேராது. ஏனெனில்.. இல்

ஒரு நாள், நாய் ஒன்று காட்டில் வழி தவறிவிட்டது. அப்பொழுது அங்கு சிங்கம் ஒன்று பசியோடு அலைவதைப் பார்த்த நாய் ஒரு நிமிடம் பதறி இன்றோடு நம் கதை முடிந்தது என்று எண்ணியது. அப்பொழுது அங்கு கிடந்த எலும்பு துண்டுகளைப் பார்த்ததும் அருமையான திட்டம் ஒன்றை தீட்டியது. சிங்கம் வரும் வழியில் திரும்பி உக்கார்ந்து கொண்டு எலும்பு துண்டுகளை சுவைக்க தொடங்கியது. சுவைத்து கொண்டே சத்தமாக, "சிங்கத்தை கொன்று தின்பது எவ்வளவு சுவையாக உள்ளது, ஆனால் வயிறு நிறையவில்லை. இன்னொரு சிங்கம் கிடைத்தால், ஆஹா! வயறு நிறைந்து விடும்" என்று கூறியது. இதைக் கேட்ட சிங்கம் "அய்யோ..! இந்த நாய் சிங்கத்தை அல்லவா கொன்று தின்கிறது" என்று நினைத்து பயந்து அங்கிருந்து ஓடி போனது. இதையெல்லாம் மரத்தின் மேல் இருந்து குரங்கு ஒன்று பார்த்து கொண்டிருந்தது. சிங்கத்தை ஏமாற்றிய இந்த நாயை சிங்கத்திடம் போட்டுக் கொடுத்தால், சிங்கத்தின் நட்பை பெற்று வாழ் நாளெல்லாம் பயம் இல்லாமல் வாழலாம் என்று நினைத்தது. உடனே சிங்கத்திடம் சென்று, நாய் செய்த தந்திரத்தைப் பற்றி சொன்னது.  அதை கவனித்த நாய் எதோ தப்பு நடக்க போகிறது என்று உணர்ந்

Krishna had many women disciples, but one favourite, Radha. Each disciple said to herself, "Krishna loves me more than anyone else." Still, because Krishna often talked to Radha, the others were envious of her. Noticing their jealousy, he wanted to teach them a lesson. So one day Krishna feigned a terrible headache. The anxious disciples expressed their great concern over the master's distress. At last Krishna said, "The headache will go away if one of you will stand on my head and massage it with your feet." The horrified devotees exclaimed, "We can not do this. You are god, the Lord of the Universe. It would be highest sacrilege to dare to discrete your form by touching your sacred head with our feet." The master was pretending an increase in his pain when Radha came on the scene. She ran to her Lord, saying, "What can I do for you?" While on his all India trip, Swami Vivekananda came to Alwar on the way. He was received by the king Mangal Singh. They talked casually. King expressed that he doesn't believe using idols to worship to be a right practice. Swamiji called Diwan (minister) who was standing at nearby. "Please spit on the image of King's father, hanging there." Swamiji pointed towards the photo of Mangal Singh's father. Diwan hesitated and did not do as Swamiji requested. Swamiji concluded "Though that image is your father's and not your father, minster is hesitant to spit on it because it reminds of your father. Same way images/idols remind us of God. We don't worship the stone/metal that the idol is made of, it is the ideal & qualities that the form reminds that we worship." Mangal Singh agreed, it made sense now.

When Vivekananda came to Ramakrishna, his family was in a very impoverished state. His father, who was an impulsive worldly man, had died leaving many debts to be paid off, so that there was not even enough food in the house. If it somehow became possible to prepare a meal, there was never enough for the two – Vivekananda and his mother. So Vivekananda would say to his mother that he was invited out by some friend to eat with him; otherwise his mother would make him eat first and then go hungry herself.
