The bigger picture

Once upon a time, there lived four blind men in a small village.  The four blind men always spent time with each other.  One day, as they were walking through the village, they heard a lot of noise.  Walking in the direction of the noise, they came across a huge animal.  None of the four blind men knew what they had bumped into!   As you know, blind people use their other four senses to understand what they cannot see. So they began to touch the animal. One of the blind men felt the trunk of the animal and described the creature to be like a thick rod. Another blind man stroked the animal's tail. "No, it is a rope!" he exclaimed. The third blind man who touched the animal's ear remarked, "No! You both are wrong! This is just a huge dustpan!" The last blind man got hold of the animal's leg. "No, no, no!" he argued, "This is a giant pillar." With the limited idea they had, all the four blind men were right, but only partially.  T...

Ask Now

One great philosopher, Maulingaputta, came to Buddha, and he started asking questions... questions after questions. Must have been an incarnation of Patrick! Buddha listened silently for half an hour. Maulingaputta started feeling a little embarrassed because he was not answering, he was simply sitting there smiling, as if nothing had happened, and he had asked such important questions, such significant questions. Finally Buddha said, "Do you really want to know the answer?" Maulingaputta said, "Otherwise why should I have come to you? I have travelled at least one thousand miles to see you." And remember, in those days, one thousand miles was really one thousand miles! It was not hopping in a plane and reaching within minutes or within hours. One thousand miles was one thousand miles. It was with great longing, with great hope that he had come. He was tired, weary from the journey, and he must have followed Buddha because Buddha himself was traveling continuousl...

A deaf man and his friend

A deaf man was visiting his friend and the dog of the friend barked at him like mad. Being unable to hear anything, he said to his friend after they had exchanged greetings, “Your dog did not sleep well last night.” “Why do you say that?” “He looked at me and kept yawning.” A deaf man can’t hear, he can’t hear the dog barking; he can only see the movement, the gesture, the lips moving, the mouth opening and closing, and he will interpret it according to his own understanding. He says, “He looked at me and kept yawning.” That's how we interpret/ perceive people as well :) That’s how we have understood/ listened to the Buddhas & Jesus of the world as well. Infact, we have not listened at all, we have heard their words, certainly. Words are mine, perceptions are yours - Osho

You cannot please everyone!

One day a man was going to market with his son and his donkey. They met a couple on the way. "Why walk when you have an donkey to ride?" called out the husband, "seat the boy on the donkey." "I would like that," said the boy, "help me up father."  And the father did that willingly. Soon they met another couple. "How shameful of you!" cried the woman, "let your father ride, won't he be tired?" So, the boy got down and the father rode the donkey. Again they marched on. "Poor boy", said the next person they met, "why should the lazy father ride while his son is walking?" So, the boy got onto the donkey too. As they went on, they met some travellers. "How cruel of them!" They are up to kill the poor donkey." cried one of the travellers. Hearing this, the father and the son got down. Now they decided to carry the donkey on their shoulders. As they did so, the travellers br...

Managing Relationships!

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand “Today my best friend slapped me in the face”. They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone “Today my best friend saved my life”. The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?” The other friend replied “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.” Do not value the things you have in...

Don't copy if you can't paste!

A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience. He Said : "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!" The audience was in silence and shock. The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!" Laughter and applause. A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home. He was a bit foggy after a drink. He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!" The wife went; "ah!" with shock and rage. Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out "...and I can't remember who she was!" By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on a hospital bed nursing burns from boiling water Don't copy if you can't paste!
