NEVER ALLOW A CAT IN YOUR LIFE :)

The Indian monks used, in place of underwear, just a long strip of cloth called langot. It is a “mini” — mini-est — because just a long strip… they wrap it around themselves. They were allowed to have only two langotis. But a trouble arose: some rats came into the house and they started chewing on the langot. The man was in a great difficulty; he had only two langotis and soon they would be gone. So he asked the villagers, “What to do? because my sect does not allow a saint to have more than two langotis. That’s the only possession allowed.” A great saint was dying and he said to his successor, a young man, “Remember one thing: never allow a cat in your life,” and he died. A big crowd had gathered to listen to the last statement of this great saint… and what a sentence! “Never allow a cat in your life.” The successor said, “My god, why should I allow a cat in my life in the first place? And this is the whole religion?” But an old man — who was also a disciple, but was not chosen a...

Greedy Gatekeeper

Once there lived a very rich man in a town. The rich man's big bungalow was guarded by a lazy and greedy gatekeeper. One day a poor man from a near by village came to the rich man's bungalow. The gatekeeper asked why did the old man come there. The old man replied, "I have brought some rare fruits from my village. I want to sell them to your master."  The gatekeeper asked the old man to give him one fruit. After eating that fruit, the gatekeeper knew that the his boss will buy all those tasty fruits. "Ok, I will let you in, but you should give me half of what my boss gives for these fruits", said the gatekeeper. The old man decided to teach a good lesson to the gatekeeper. So, he agreed to his condition and went inside the gate to meet the rich man. The rich man liked the fruits and said he would buy all the fruits. When he asked about what amount of money the old man wanted for those fruits, the old man replied, "instead of money please give 100...

Reflection

There is a story they tell of two dogs. Both at separate times walk into the same room. One comes out wagging his tail while the other comes out growling. A woman watching this goes into the room to see what could possibly make one dog so happy and the other so mad. To her surprise she finds the room filled with mirrors. The happy dog found a thousand happy dogs looking back at him, while the angry dog saw only angry dogs growling back at him. What you see in the world around you is a reflection of who you are.

Farmer and the faithful dog

One evening, a Farmer returned home from his farm. He had left his baby asleep in the cradle. His faithful Dog was watching over the child. When the Farmer reached the room, he saw the baby’s cradle turned upside down and blood everywhere. The baby was missing. The Farmer understood that a beast had killed his baby. Now he was very sad and upset. Then he saw that his Dog was lying quietly with blood on his mouth and body. The Farmer was so angry that he picked up a an axe and hit the Dog. The poor Dog cried out in pain and died. The Farmer now rushed to the turned cradle and lifted it. His little son was perfectly safe and sleeping, peacefully! A big, ugly Snake lay dead near the cradle. The Farmer was shocked. He was happy that his baby was safe, but very sad that his beloved Dog was dead. Now he understood that his Dog had fought and killed the Snake to save the baby. He realised his mistake. He had killed his loyal Dog without thinking. Sadly, he picked up his baby. Never ta...

Be Happy With What You Are.

On a warm winter morning, two Lizards sat on a high wall of an old mill. They were enjoying the bright sunshine. One Lizard kept dreaming all the time and was unhappy. The other was older and wiser. “How miserable is our situation!” cried the Unhappy Lizard. “No one notices us. We are small and have such dull lives. Look at the other bigger animals. They are so royal and majestic!” The Unhappy Lizard sighed, “I wish I was born a deer. To be quick and have great, big horns! And live proudly in the royal forest.” At that very moment, a pack of dogs ran past, chasing a deer. The deer was tired and the hungry dogs pounced on it. The Lizards watched in horror. The Wise Lizard said to his complaining friend, “You wanted to be in place of this poor deer!” “You should learn from what you just saw. You are not beautifully coloured or quick on your feet. But, you are alive! Destiny is kind to you. You are small and safe from danger, unlike the bigger animals!” Be Happy With What You ...

Small act of caring

There was a boy who was sent by his parents to a boarding school. Before being sent away this boy was the brightest student in his class. He was at the top in every competition. He was a champion. But the boy changed after leaving home and attending the boarding school. His grades started dropping. He hated being in a group. He was lonely all the time. And there were especially dark times when he felt like committing suicide. All of this because he felt worthless and that no one loved him. His parents started worrying about the boy. But even they did not know what was wrong with him. So his dad decided to travel to the boarding school and talk with him. They sat on the bank of the lake near the school. The father started asking him casual questions about his classes, teachers and sports. After some time his dad said, ‘Do you know son, why I am here today?” The boy answered back, “to check my grades?” “No, no” his dad replied, “I am here to tell you that you are the most impor...

The bigger picture

Once upon a time, there lived four blind men in a small village.  The four blind men always spent time with each other.  One day, as they were walking through the village, they heard a lot of noise.  Walking in the direction of the noise, they came across a huge animal.  None of the four blind men knew what they had bumped into!   As you know, blind people use their other four senses to understand what they cannot see. So they began to touch the animal. One of the blind men felt the trunk of the animal and described the creature to be like a thick rod. Another blind man stroked the animal's tail. "No, it is a rope!" he exclaimed. The third blind man who touched the animal's ear remarked, "No! You both are wrong! This is just a huge dustpan!" The last blind man got hold of the animal's leg. "No, no, no!" he argued, "This is a giant pillar." With the limited idea they had, all the four blind men were right, but only partially.  T...
